1. What is Sprinkle?

We’re an independent, Australian-owned, Melbourne-based maker of organic artisan spice and salt blends. As spice lovers and herbs fanatics, we want to share the love of flavour with Australia’s passionate home cooks and all foodies out there. Our mission is to help our customers eat well, live healthily and do good, both in and out of the kitchen. 2. What are the blends all about?

Our blends are 100% natural, organic and handmade in weekly small batches right here in Melbourne. The Sprinkle eclectic blend collection was inspired by global cuisines (Middle Eastern, North African, North and South American and European to name a few). 3. Why blends?

We believe that cooking for friends and family is one of life’s greatest pleasures. But we all lead busy lives and are time poor. Planning, shopping and preparation can be a hassle. That’s where Sprinkle comes in. You won’t have to scout for whole spices, search for seasoning recipes or waste money on 10 different ingredients you’ll never use. All you need is one of our jars and your flavourful weekly dinner, BBQ or holiday meal is sorted. Maximum flavour, minimal effort.

 

4. Where are your blends made?

Our premium spice blends are handmade in-house, in small batches, in Melbourne to ensure the utmost freshness and quality. We’re the only premium spice brand in Australia that focuses solely on organic, hand crafted spice blends.

 

5. How are your blends made?

With a LOT of care and attention. We search high and low for the finest organic spices and herbs. We then roast, grind and blend them by hand in small batches, in Melbourne. In total, we mix over 100 types of whole spices and dried herbs according to our own exclusive recipes which were developed and perfected over the years. Some blends are made of 13 different ingredients.

In order to maintain maximum freshness, our blends are freshly made weekly and, often, to order. They are stored in special conditions to protect them from humidity, temperature fluctuations and contamination. They are bottled in air tight glass jars to ensure they always remain fresh and aromatic. We sell them in small quantities so you only buy what you'll use. No more waste; No more stale spices gathering dust at the back of your pantry!

Spice blending is a labour of love that requires equal amounts of skill and passion. We hope you’ll enjoy our blends just as much as we enjoy making them for you.

 

6. Does Sprinkle support charitable causes?

Absolutely! We believe in giving something back and showing gratitude along the way, so watch this space. We're planning to announce our partnership with Australian charities that help those less fortunate in our communities so that for every purchase made in our store, we’ll donate to those causes. 7. What do the blend names mean?

Our blends are named after places, foods or cuisines that inspired them. Each blend’s ‘provenance’ or inspiration is listed on its product page on our website. We like to get creative and make our own modern, authentic version of many classic spice blends as well as come up with new spice combinations that we think will rock your tastebuds. After all, it’s all about having fun and experimenting with flavour. 

  

8. Can I partner with Sprinkle, buy wholesale or resell your blends?

Cooking with Sprinkle's Spice & Salt Blends

 

9. How do I cook with blends?

Spice blending has been around for a very long time. Ancient blending traditions have evolved all over the world, from the Middle East to South America, creating endless regional variations and family recipes passed on from one generation to another.

Spice blends add oodles of flavour, aromas and depth to a variety of foods and dishes. They have the power to transform humble ingredients and simple dishes into delicious, nutritious meals. Don't be afraid to experiment and explore new flavours and different combinations. Spices are a wonderful salt substitute as they flavour food without the need for much or any salt or other flavourings.

Most blends are best used during cooking to allow them to release their valuable oils and for their flavour to develop properly. You can start by adding 1/2 a teaspoon for 450g of meat, fish or vegetables but that can obviously be adapted to your own taste and preferences. For bolder flavours, add more. So be adventurous and create your own flavour journey!

10. How should I store my blends?

Heat, humidity and light will degrade your blends fast. We recommend storing our blends in the airtight glass containers they come in and keeping them in a cool, dark place. For optimal quality, steer away from the fridge and do not store the blends in direct sunlight, above or near the stove or in hot or humid conditions. Keep them in a cool, dry pantry or cupboard. We also recommend using our blends within 1-2 months from the date of purchase for maximum enjoyment.

 

11. What is spice blends' shelf life? 

Spice blends (and single origin spices and herbs in general) don’t really go off. They simply lose their punch as their potency and aroma fade over time. Generally, the fresher the better. We grind and mix our blends weekly. For maximum enjoyment, we recommend using them soon after your purchase and certainly within the first 2-3 months. That’s why our blends don’t come in giant pillow case-like bags or in self-scooping containers. We only sell our blends in relatively small quantities so they’re used quickly and stay fresh.

 

12. What’s in your blends? 

The best spices and herbs we can find. Nothing else. The full list of ingredients for each blend can be found on the jar’s label and the relevant product page on the website. Our blends contain between 80% to 100% certified organic ingredients. We never use artificial colours or flavours, fillers, preservatives or any other nasties found in conventional mass produced spices. Just pure, natural flavour all the way.

 

13. Are Sprinkle's spice blends organic?

We do our best to source only certified organic spices and herbs for our blends. Where the ingredients list indicates that a spice or herb is ‘Certified Organic’, that means the relevant ingredient is certified as organic by an Australian body (either ACO or NASAA). We're still a relatively small business and so we're not certified organic yet, but we only work with suppliers who share our values. Where a certified organic spice or herb is unavailable, we source wild-grown or other premium ingredients. Sprinkle's blends contain no pesticides, chemicals, genetically modified ingredients or MSG. 

 

14. Do your blends contain salt? 

Most of our blends are salt free. Only a few contain salt. When a blend recipe calls for salt, we'll only use premium Australian sea salt in minimal amounts. Our salt blends are proudly made with pure Australian salt, naturally harvested from the Murray Darling basin and dried in the Australian sun. This means the salt used is packed with its natural minerals and nutrients. We’re all about natural flavours so you can incorporate Sprinkle's blends into any healthy diet. Our blends do NOT contain any preservatives, fillers, artificial colours, flavours, anti-caking agents or any other fillers commonly found in conventional or mass produced seasoning. 

 

15. Do Sprinkle's spice blends contain any allergens?

If you are allergic to certain foods, please carefully check the blend's ingredients list on the website or label. While we make every effort to ensure that our blends are allergen-free, a few blends' recipes (like Galilee Za'atar) may contain sesame seeds. We do not handle peanuts, tree nuts, soy, milk, seafood, cereals or fish nor add those to our blends. However, as spices and herbs are imported into Australia from all over the world, we cannot guarantee that there would not be any cross-contamination along the way or no traces of the above allergens. Please exercise caution as applicable. In the event of an allergic reaction that may relate to our products, stop using our products and consult a medical practitioner.

 

16. What should I do if the blends have clumped?

As we don’t use anti-clumping or anti-caking agents (nor any other additives) in our spice blends, they may naturally clump together in transit due to the moisture content found in certain spices. We’d recommend gently shaking the jar when you receive it or breaking it up with a teaspoon before using if there’s clumping.

 

17. Why are your blends more expensive than supermarket spices?

At Sprinkle, we aim to bring you a premium product. We source the finest and rarest certified organic ingredients, bottle our blends by hand in quality glass jars to ensure maximum freshness and use traditional manufacturing methods for optimal quality. We also offer sustainable, eco-friendly packaging and express delivery to make the Sprinkle shopping experience better than anything else out there on the market. We spare no cost to offer our customers superior quality, better tasting and healthier products. Our products may cost a bit more than the low-grade, inferior quality so-called spices found in supermarket aisles but we always aim to offer great value for money.

18. How hot and spicy are your blends?

Our blends may add spiciness or heat to different degrees. This would depend on the ingredients and how much of a blend is used in a dish. Generally, Sprinkle's blends are all about adding flavour, complexity and depth to your dishes but they're not intended to overwhelm. It's obviously a matter of taste and personal preference but please check out the blend's ingredients and description for more information about specific products. If you're a chilli lover, there's plenty to choose from here. But there are lots of ideas for those looking to add subtle, more mellow flavours too.  

 

19. Can I recycle your packaging?

Yes, we’d encourage you to recycle our glass jars and the cardboard packaging they come in. Sprinkle is committed to being environmentally friendly and adopting sustainable practices.

 

Orders & My Account

 

20. How much does shipping cost?

Shipping is free for all orders over $100. We charge a flat fee of $9.95 for all orders under $100 across Australia, regardless of how many items you purchase.

 

21. What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept all major credit cards and PayPal.

 

22. Do I need an Account to buy from Sprinkle?

You don’t need a Sprinkle Account but it’s free to set up and it will speed up the checkout process. When you sign up to a Sprinkle Account you can check out the status of your latest order, view past orders, change your account information, change your payment details and have multiple shipping addresses. If you check out as a guest, all order confirmations and updates will be sent to you via email (as is the case for Account holders).

 

23. Is my order secure?

All payments on our website are processed through a secure third party payment processing service called Stripe. We don’t store any credit card details on our system and we’re compliant with international standards for operating secure e-commerce stores.

 

24. When will I receive my order?

We process all orders quickly and aim to post them within 48 hours of receiving the order. We’ve partnered with Australia Post and send our packages via the Express service. Delivery usually takes 1-2 business days. Please note that for more remote locations, Australia Post will do its best to deliver fast but cannot guarantee next day delivery. 25. Can I track my order?

Yes, if you checked out as a guest you’ll receive an email confirmation once your order is shipped with a tracking number. If you have a Sprinkle Account, your order details, tracking number and status can also be found in your Account. We ship all orders with Australia Post's Express service and you can use the tracking number we provide to check your order status on Australia Post’s website any time after shipping.

26. Can I change or cancel my order?

Any order changes or cancellations must be requested by emailing Sprinkle within 24 hours of placing the order at: support@sprinklespices.com.au. As we process all orders quickly and incur costs, we regret that we cannot accept any changes or cancellations once the order is dispatched. Please check the order details carefully (including product details, quantities and the shipping address) before completing an order on the website. Unfortunately, we can’t refund or recall an order once it’s been processed and/or posted.

 

27. Do I have to sign for my order?

Yes, you will be required to sign for the package on receipt. If you’d like to authorise the package to be left if no one is home to sign, you can do so via your MyPost account with Australia Post. Australia Post may leave the package if no one is home and a safe place is available. However, if a safe space is not available, you will need to collect the package from a post office nearby according to instructions left by Australia Post.

 

28. My package arrived damaged or the products aren’t what I ordered. What can I do?

We’re so sorry to hear that! Please email support@sprinklespices.com.au and let us know within 48 hours of receiving the package including a photo (as an attachment to your email) of the issue with your order. We will look into the problem swiftly and either replace or refund your order. For more information, please read our refunds policy.

 

29. Will you bombard me with marketing emails if I sign up to your mailing list?

Absolutely not. Once you've signed up, you'll only hear from us occasionally to let you know about events, promotions and special offers, share great recipes or new product launches. You can stop receiving our emails at any time by clicking the ‘Unsubscribe’ link at the bottom of the email. We'll never share your email address with any third parties.
