Inspired by Hawaij (pronounced "ha-wa-yej"), a Yemenite-Israeli spice blend, this sunny, fragrant flavour bomb is perfect for seasoning grilled chicken, roasted veggies or baked barramundi. Traditionally, this blend was used to add big flavours to rustic Yemenite beef and potato soup. We love it in stews, rice, couscous, chickpeas and lentil dishes.
Rich, complex, slightly citrusy aroma and an earthy character. We've blended a base of bright turmeric and earthy cumin with galangal, caraway seeds and a hint of nutmeg, cardamom and black peppercorns.
This blend is SALT FREE. You may wish to add sea salt to taste.
Jazz up any grilled or roasted vegetables - sweet potatoes, broccolini, carrots, cauliflower or parsnips - by sprinkling Adeni with a generous drizzle of olive oil and some sea salt before roasting or grilling.
Delicious as a rub for BBQ chicken or grilled fish mixed with some olive oil and good sea salt.
Add to couscous,rice or lentils during cooking for a subtle exotic flavour.
For a flavourful schnitzel mix a tablespoon or two of Adeni with bread crumbs before coating the chicken.
Add few table spoons during cooking to turn wintery soups and hearty stews into an exotic feast.
Store spices in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight and away from heat and humidity.
Keep spices in the original glass jar or an airtight glass container.
For optimal flavour and aroma use spices within 3 months of opening.
