Baharat means "spices" in Arabic and is also known as "Lebanese 7 spice". Baharat brings together aromatic mild warm spices such as allspice, cinnamon and cloves and more savoury notes of black peppercorns. You'll find endless variations and recipes for baharat across the Middle East. Some add paprika to the mix, others throw in cumin, coriander seeds or turmeric.
Baharat will make your food uber flavoursome without being overbearing or hot. And it's so versatile you can add it to roasted veggies, chicken or lamb dishes, couscous, soups, stews or rice. Food will taste distinctly middle eastern, exotic and moreish.
Our version of this eclectic spice blend combines sweet notes of allspice, cassia cinnamon and cloves with a fruity touch of ginger, floral notes of Indian rose petals and a hint of savouriness from caraway seeds and black peppercorns to balance the sweetness.
